Car Magnets for Your School

Want to make a difference? Your PTA or PTO needs to run several fundraisers each year in order to meet the monetary goals that you set for yourself.

There seem to be an endless number of fundraising opportunities out there, and you are limited only by your finite time frame. You still have time to run 5 to 10 fundraisers during the school year.

A lot of planning goes into choosing which fundraisers you conduct, and when. The new PTA/PTO Board is usually elected in May or June and takes over in late June or July. When you consider that classes start in August (early August in many schools), you only have about a month to get your act together and schedule all those fundraisers.

The downside is that most of those fundraisers take a lot of labor and a lot of coordination. Take, for example, “car washes”. Coordinating a car wash takes as much effort as the car wash itself (and that’s a lot of work).

On the other hand, a successful “merchandise” fundraiser can pretty much run itself. With ARC Marketing, getting your custom car magnets designed, printed and delivered to your door is easy (we’ll do all the work). Then you just wait for the parents to come to your PTA/PTO and say they want 2 or 3 magnets for the cars in their family. Ka-ching!

Not only are they easier, car magnet fundraisers are more profitable. Selling a few hundred magnets is easy, and will make more money than 1 or 2 car washes. Now, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t hold a car wash or two. If you have the man-power to pull that off you should do both. In fact, you will probably hold a dozen different fundraisers during the school year and car magnets should be part of your marketing mix.

Did I mention that our art department will design your car magnet for free? Well, we will. And I mean absolutely free; we never charge for artwork.

Ready to get started? Visit our website at www.arcmktg.com and click on the “Design Your Magnet” button. Then just give us a little info about your school and we’ll take it from there.

Fundraising Car Magnets

Football Car Magnets for Fundraising

Here we go again. It’s almost time for your future NFL stars to strap on the gear and begin getting ready for football season.

Long before the Opening Kickoff, your team and your league are busy making sure that everything is in place for the upcoming season.

If you’re one of those parents who don’t have the time or the inclination to join the board and help, you might be unaware of all the work that goes in behind the scenes. Already, your board is working to make sure that the fields are available for practice, months before the first game. The coaches are going over the rosters to make sure that every kid gets a chance to play at their best position.

The cheer coach is going over the cheer routines that the cheerleaders will be practicing, then performing for the fans.

In short, there are many people already working to make sure that the football season goes off on schedule.

One of these hard-working people is your Fundraising Manager. This person’s job is to ensure that there is enough money for everything after the parents have paid all the league and team fees. Those fees do not cover all expenses and your Fundraising Manager will do everything in her power to cover that funding gap with creative fundraisers.

She is going to run about 5 to 10 different fundraisers during the season. Keeping that many balls in the air isn’t easy, so she will need a mix of “high profit – high labor” fundraisers and a few “low profit – low labor” fundraisers. Well, we have a fundraiser that is both “high profit” and “low labor” (there aren’t many).

A car magnet fundraiser should be part of your marketing mix. The hardest part about a car magnet fundraiser is designing the magnet. Guess what? Our award-winning art department is going to handle that for you for FREE! Yeah, you heard that right. This is going to save you either $100 in art-time or save you about 5 hours of computer work (if you know your way around the graphics software).

So, let’s get this started. Email us a copy of your logo and we’ll start working on your design. Even easier, fill out our “Virtual Magnet Request” and we’ll have all the info we need to design your custom car magnet and mail you a free sample. You can get to the Virtual Magnet Request by clicking here. You can also call us at 760-743-6340.

Let’s Go!

Soccer Magnets for Fundraising

Fundraising Soccer League car magnets

Soccer Car Magnets

We make a lot of soccer magnets… a lot! This past year, we made more magnets for youth soccer clubs than we made youth football car magnets. That’s the first time that has happened.

Soccer season is long. In professional soccer it stretches out for 10 months. That’s longer than professional basketball and professional hockey, which never seems to end.

Youth soccer has a similar season. In fact, some teams and leagues squeeze two seasons into each year (a spring season and a fall season).

Soccer might also be the most participated in youth sport. I’m pretty sure that there are more soccer players than football players in the U.S.

Soccer might not be as expensive for a parent as some of the other team sports. Football, baseball and hockey all need a ton of expensive equipment, and you need to buy those every year (because your young stars are growing like weeds).

But that doesn’t mean that soccer is cheap. Even though there is less equipment to buy, what equipment is needed is not inexpensive. Add league fees and other ancillary items and you’re still looking at a blow to your budget. Soccer Camp? Get ready to cough up another few hundred.

This is where fundraising comes in. Most leagues have a fundraising leader and that person’s job is to find ways to raise extra money. Usually, this extra money is used to offset what each parent needs to pay (your league fees would be even higher without these fundraising efforts).

Most leagues run several fundraisers throughout the season. Most are very labor intensive (car washes, bake sales, etc.) and might make a hundred dollars or so for all your effort. But there is one fundraiser that needs very little labor to pull off, plus it can make hundreds of dollars very easily. Of course, I’m talking about a custom car magnet fundraiser for your team or league.

With the proper design, these magnets will practically sell themselves. Speaking of the design, the art department at ARC Marketing is going to do all the heavy lifting for you at no charge. We’ll design and print a killer magnet for your league that everyone will want. You just need to sit back and sell magnets. Easy.

Swim Team Car Magnets

Car Magnets for Diving and Swimming Teams

Competitive Swimming. Now this is a sport that you can grow old with. Like golf and cycling, swimming is a sport that you can do for the rest of your life.

Unlike “Impact” sports like running, football and tennis (which can wear out your knees, ankles and elbows) swimming puts little pressure on your joints and muscles. In fact, after 50 laps in your 25-meter pool, you are going to be stretched out and relaxed, ready for your work week. Try running 5 miles on pavement and all that most of are ready for is a visit to our Orthopedic Specialist.

I can’t find any hard statistics on this, but I think that the average age of most recreational swim teams is in the 30’s. My wife’s swim team has a few teens on it, and few swimmers in their 20’s. But the core of the swim team is a bunch of people in the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. They even have two swimmers in their 70’s! It’s a sport that you never outgrow.

Like most other team sports, swimming teams need money to operate. They need to buy equipment (timing clocks, pool land dividers). They need to rent the pool (usually) in order to keep the little kids out during practice and meets. They need to buy swim jackets and team logo’d swim caps, etc.

Swim Teams might not be as expensive as youth football or baseball, but money does need to be raised.

Of course, I’m going to offer up custom car magnets as an excellent way to increase your fundraising potential. I’ll bet there isn’t one member of your team that wouldn’t pay $10 for a custom car magnet with your team’s logo on it. They would put that on their car in 20 seconds.

Our amazing team of designers will work with you to create the perfect fundraising car magnet for your swim team. We will use your team colors, your team logo or mascot and your team name to make a magnet that your team will be proud of.

Give us a call at 760-743-6340 and let’s get this started. With our help, it will be easier than a kick turn.

Round Car Magnets or Oval Car Magnets?

round magnets oval magnets

Round Car Magnets and Oval Car Magnets

Round Car Magnets or Oval Car Magnets?

Here we go. Another “either or” argument. Follows the other age-old major decisions like “boxers or briefs”, and “paper or plastic”.

Well, it’s one of the most polarizing topics in this very polarizing time. Let’s get into the weeds and determine which is better… round car magnets or oval car magnets.

To begin with, both the oval and round magnets are the most durable shapes. They both offer a single, continuous edge with no sharp corners that can wear over time. Square magnets and intricate die-cut magnets (we make those also) have sharp corners that can start to fray over time, which can lead to the magnetic material failing (doesn’t happen often, but the potential is there). And by “over time”, we mean several years so don’t be too worried.

Our standard round car magnet is a 5-inch circle. Normally we put your logo, mascot or other graphic into the center. We try to make the “center” of the magnet a 4-inch circle, leaving a half-inch border for text.

Our standard oval car magnet is 6 inches long and 4 inches tall. Again, we will put your logo or other graphic in the center. The center of both magnets is where your eye is drawn toward, so the most impactful part of your magnet should go there.

We like to make the type as large as possible without running into kerning or spacing issues. We want the type to be a strong contrasting color to the border color so that it stands out and can be legible from the car behind you at the stop light.

The oval magnet works better for linear logos (logos that are wider than they are tall) since this shape offers more room from left to right. The oval magnet works better also for designs that have a lot of words. You can fit more words on the top and bottom arc of the oval magnet because the curve of the arc is more subtle. On the round magnet, longer phrases tend to invert slightly when they reach the midpoint (9 and 3 o’clock).

I realize that none of this really settles the argument of Round vs. Oval magnets, but it might help you decide on the best shape for your magnet.

Let our team of professional graphic artists help you with your new car magnet. Round or oval, we’ll find the best design for you!

PTA and PTO Fundraising

PTA and PTO Fundraising

This is the time of year that most of the Parent/Teacher groups elect their new Executive Board for the 2019-2020 school year. For those lucky souls, their summer will be anything but a vacation. They need to be ready to hit the ground running in August. Everything needs to be in place well before the rest of us drop the kids off for the First Day of School.

Your PTA and PTO do many beneficial things for your school.  All of the PTA/PTO officers are volunteers, so they deserve a heart-felt Thanks from all of us. One of the many tasks that they perform is to provide money to the school for items and programs that have been cut out of the school’s budget. And the way they get this money is through fundraising.

In a typical school year, your PTA or PTO conducts several different fundraisers and some schools juggle more than a dozen different events. Most of these fundraisers are very labor-intensive (car washes, carnivals, etc.), but these also raise a lot of money.

Just to balance things out, your PTA or PTO needs some easy fundraisers that don’t take a lot of effort. These tend to be “merchandise” sales of customized products (T-shirts, sports bottles, etc.).

Out of all the merchandise fundraisers, a custom car magnet might be the easiest and the highest profit of all. Most schools double their money with car magnets and many even get a triple return or higher. I don’t know about you, but I have dozens of T-shirts that I don’t wear and are now in my rag box in the garage. And sports bottles? I don’t like the chemical taste they leave in the water. But a car magnet? Sign me up. Most people love to put magnets on their car. They like letting the world know how they feel, and their car has become a mobile billboard.

Getting started on your fundraising car magnet is easy; just give us a call at 760-743-6340 and one of our talented designers will work with you from “conception through completion”. Your new car magnet from ARC Marketing will be perfect.

Revolutionize School Fundraising: Why Car Magnets Outshine Traditional Methods

Revolutionize School Fundraising: Why Car Magnets Outshine Traditional Methods

Taking on a role in the PTA Board’s fundraising activities introduces a unique set of challenges and opportunities. When exploring school fundraising ideas, it’s crucial to consider options that are not only effective but also engaging for the community. Among the myriad of choices, school car magnets stand out as a novel and impactful approach. These fundraising car magnets offer a creative and practical solution, blending visibility for the school with ease of implementation.

Traditional Fundraising: A Closer Look at Bake Sales

Bake sales have long been a staple in school fundraising. However, they come with hidden costs and efforts:

  1. Planning and organizing volunteers.
  2. Baking or sourcing a large number of goods.
  3. Setting up and managing the sale location.
  4. Dealing with unsold items and cleanup after the event.

Financially, a bake sale’s return is often modest. Consider the costs of ingredients, time spent baking, and the physical setup. A typical bake sale might raise $200, but when you subtract the costs and hours of labor, the net gain diminishes significantly.

The High Effort, Low Return of Car Washes

Car washes, another traditional fundraising method, also pose challenges:

  1. Recruiting and coordinating a volunteer team.
  2. Marketing and distributing flyers to promote the event.
  3. Securing a location with enough traffic to attract customers.
  4. Purchasing car wash supplies like soap, sponges, and buckets.
  5. Providing meals for the volunteers.
  6. Cleaning up the location post-event.

The profit from a car wash, after subtracting expenses for supplies and food, is usually just a small fraction of the total earnings, often not exceeding $75.

A More Efficient Alternative: School Car Magnets

Now, let’s turn our attention to a more modern and streamlined approach: school car magnets. Here’s a simple breakdown:

This approach not only trumps the profits from bake sales and car washes but also requires significantly less preparation and manpower.

Benefits of Car Magnet Fundraisers

The advantages of fundraising car magnets are numerous:

  • Minimal Volunteer Requirements: Unlike bake sales or car washes, car magnets don’t require a large volunteer force.
  • No Extensive Preparations: Say goodbye to the days of pre-event baking or supply gathering.
  • Effortless Sales: Car magnets are easy to distribute and sell, often requiring just a simple handover.
  • Wider Audience Reach: Unlike bake sales that target only those present, car magnets can reach a broader community audience, including parents, alumni, and local supporters.
  • Brand Visibility: Car magnets serve as moving advertisements for your school, enhancing visibility and community spirit.

Implementing Your Car Magnet Fundraiser

Embarking on your car magnet fundraiser is straightforward:

  1. Contact ARC Marketing at 760-743-6340 for design and production.
  2. Set a reasonable selling price (in this case, $10) to ensure substantial profit while remaining affordable.
  3. Plan a distribution strategy that could include selling at school events, through an online order form, or even through direct mailing.

Comparing Profits: Car Magnets vs. Traditional Methods

Let’s delve deeper into the financial comparison. A bake sale netting $200, after removing costs, might only leave you with a $50 profit. Similarly, a car wash might bring in around $75 after expenses. In contrast, a car magnet fundraiser can easily yield a $2,000 profit with far less effort.

Why Car Magnets are the Future of Fundraising

In an era where time is valuable, and efficiency is key, car magnets represent a shift towards smarter fundraising. They offer a hassle-free solution with a greater financial return. Their ease of distribution and lasting impact make them a preferred choice over traditional methods like bake sales and car washes.

Conclusion: Making the Smart Choice for Your School

In conclusion, as a member of the PTA Board tasked with fundraising, your goal is to maximize profits while minimizing effort and resources. Car magnet fundraisers not only meet these criteria but also provide a unique way to promote school spirit and unity.

By choosing car magnets over traditional methods like bake sales and car washes, you’re not only ensuring a more successful fundraising campaign but also embracing a modern, efficient approach that benefits everyone involved.

Now, I’m going to digress. I’ve always wondered about the question posed in the following paragraph; is baseball harder to play than softball? I know that I sucked at both. And I don’t want to upset anybody on either side because we make baseball car magnets and softball car magnets for hundreds of teams every year.

Which is harder to play, softball or baseball? This is one of the most important discussions of our times (right behind climate change, right?). I guess that depends on who you ask. Ask a baseball player, and of course fragile masculine pride will make that baseball player claim that hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in sports.

But ask a softball player the same question, and pragmatic feminine sensibility will claim that both are difficult, but softball is harder.

And, speaking as a man, I agree with the softball players.

Let’s focus on hitting the pitched ball, just to highlight the most obvious part of the game. I thought that if I did a little research, I could come up with a definitive answer.

Using college baseball and college softball as our metric, here are a few comparisons:

  • Distance from the pitcher’s “mound” is 60.5 feet in baseball and 43 in softball.
  • Average speed of pitched ball is about 90mph in baseball and is about 70mph in softball
  • Time for ball to reach home plate is about .44 seconds for baseball and about .35 seconds for softball

Here’s something that a lot of casual observers don’t take into account. Since the baseball “mound” is raised, and the pitcher usually throws overhand, baseball pitches must follow a downward trajectory. This is consistent and the theory of a “rising fastball” really doesn’t exist. So, gravity gives baseball hitters the chance to compensate by just dropping their hands during the swing.

In softball, the mound really isn’t a mound at all. It is a flat circle the same height as the batter’s box. Factor in that a softball is pitched underhand and the ball is released from the pitcher’s hand about 2 feet off the ground. Therefore, a softball pitch is almost always rising as it races toward the batter. This means that a softball batter must swing with an uppercut and with less reaction time.

Therefore, I’m going to agree with the softball players and conclude that hitting a softball in a college game is harder than hitting a baseball in a college game.

I’ll just sit back and wait for the hate-mail!

Friends of Scouting Thank You Gifts

Friends of Scouting is your council’s annual giving campaign. In most councils, Friends of Scouting (or FOS) represents the council’s largest source of income.

Here’s a great way to say “Thanks” to all those individuals who contributed to your successful FOS campaign; a custom car magnet designed for your council.

The people who donate during your FOS campaign do not want to remain anonymous! They are proud to support scouting and they want the world to know. As a result, they prefer Thank You Gifts that have your Scout Council logo or patch on it. But they also want the world to see it, so your gift should be used in a very visible place. Clothing certainly fits those requirements. And here’s an even better idea; a custom car magnet printed with your Council Logo. Using a custom car magnet as a gift to them allows them to proudly show your community that they believe in the values and ideals that you are teaching the Leaders of Tomorrow.

Imagine your “Thank You Gift” becoming an advertising machine for your council. Picture your council magnet on hundreds of cars in your community. Eventually, everyone will have seen this magnet dozens of times. That type of advertising usually isn’t cheap.

This magnet will broadcast an image of your Scout Council

  • 24 hours a day.
  • 7 days a week.
  • 365 days a year.
  • Nonstop. And the best news… it not expensive!

ARC Marketing has been designing and printing custom car magnet for scouting for more than 15 years. Let one of our talented magnet designers show you what we can do for your council.
